How long should a pool pump be on?
Does a pool pump always have to be on?
In principle, you could always leave a pool pump on. Preferably during the day, because swimming is then done and chemicals are broken down. The most important thing is that the pump is on long enough to completely filter the pool water at least 4 times a day. How long you run the pool pump depends on the size of the pool in relation to the capacity of the pump. Usually the pool pump will have to run for at least 8 hours a day to completely filter the pool 4 times a day. We ourselves recommend the sand filter pump or filter pump during the hottest hours of the day. Algae love warm, still water. As a result, algae growth mainly occurs in warm weather and in the middle of the day. With a swimming pool pump you keep the water moving and prevent swimming water from being polluted by algae, fungi and bacteria.
Can the pool pump be on while swimming?
It is no problem if the pool pump is on while you are swimming. Keep in mind that the pool pump sucks in water and blows it back into the pool. So be careful with loose strings of swimwear, so that they do not end up in the pool pump. Do you want to be on the safe side? Let the pool pump run for a few hours at the beginning of the day and turn it on again for a few hours at the end of the afternoon.
